FACT: 90% of Chronic Disease is due to poor nutrition.
Yet Western Doctors never learn anything about nutrition. So how can they help reverse Chronic Disease if they admit they know nothing about the major cause?

From The Desk Of Dr. Brandon Bright DAOM, LAc...

In my clinic we have a saying…"We Don’t Guess...We FOOD TEST!" The Proof is in the Report!

Functional Medicine has many new advanced Lab Testing options that most regular doctors aren't aware of. This is because on average it takes a Doctor 18 years to implement new research. The problem is information and research is doubling faster than ever making it hard for them to keep up.

Functional Lab tests are far superior to old out dated tests. They give far more information with more accuracy. An old stool test may look for 5 different things, while a functional stool test may test for over 400. They aren't even in the same league.

You must also understand the difference between Optimal Ranges and Normal Ranges.

Normal Ranges:
Within Normal Range means that you are within the bell curve on the average person. The problem is 96% of Americans are not metabolically healthy. You are being compared to a sick population. So when your Doctor says you are within Normal range of an average sick person, that's not where you want to be. You want to be within Optimal Ranges.

Optimal Ranges:
Functional Medicine uses Optimal Ranges. This means we aren't comparing you to the average sick person. We want to see your ranges within a tighter more optimal range.

Functional Medicine:
Looks at the body in a more Holistic way, rather than the Western Module of reductionism. We believe the body works together as a macro system. Everything needs to work in harmony. Rather than working under the presumption that every system is completely separate and we need a specialist for each organ that ends up missing the big picture.

Functional Testing

The Following are some of our most popular and most frequently used Functional Tests.

Comprehensive Tests

Comprehensive Blood Test

Our most comprehensive and exclusive diagnostic package yet, gives you VIP-level access to every biomarker we offer, including:
  • Complete Blood Count & Advanced Nutrients
  • Advanced Heart Health
  • Advanced Cholesterol
  • Liver & Kidney Health
  • Blood Sugar
  • Advanced Thyroid
  • Performance Hormones
  • Metabolic Hormones
  • Omegas
  • Systemic inflammation
  • Male/female complete reproductive health hormones

Advanced Thyroid Panel

We test much more than just your TSH and we look for optimal levels!

Comprehensive Hormones Plus

This Hormone Panel is a convenient salivary hormone test that evaluates unbound, bioavailable hormone levels over 24 hours. Specimens collected over 24 hours are examined for levels of estradiol, estrone, estriol, progesterone, the progesterone/estradiol ratio (P/E2), testosterone, cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin.

The One Day Hormone Check provides information about the impact that shifting hormone levels can have in men (andropause or male menopause) and women (perimenopause and menopause). It can reveal imbalances of primary sex hormones and how they relate to other hormones, such as DHEA, cortisol, and melatonin. Using hormone testing, clinicians can customize hormone and/or nutritional therapies and monitor therapy.

Patients with hormone imbalance may present with:
  • Fatigue
  • Weight Loss or Gain
  • Menstrual Irregularities
  • Loss of Libido
  • Hot Flashes
  • Changes in Hair and Skin
  • Insomnia

Gut Health

Gut Zoomer

If you are experiencing unwanted symptoms or health issues, it is important to look at your gut microbiome health to uncover some of the root causes of your problems. My favorite test to look at your gut health and identify bacterial pathogens, parasitic pathogens, viral pathogens, normal flora, dysbiotic flora, potential autoimmune triggers, and all intestinal health markers is the The Gut Zoomer from Vibrant America.

Unleash the power of Gut Zoomer and get a complete view of your digestion! This top-to-bottom assessment includes almost 300 species of bacteria, yeast/fungus, viruses, and parasites, as well as a full panel of inflammatory markers, markers of digestive capacity and function, and more. Get insights into how your gut health impacts other body systems, like intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome), SIBO, Liver function, Neurological function, Cardiovascular health, and more.

This is the best and most comprehensive gut test I have found and it helps me tremendously to identify the root cause of my patients’ health issues and help them to repair their body and regain their health naturally.

SIBO Breath Test

If you experience some of the symptoms below, I would consider getting the SIBO Breath test

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is a condition in which abnormally large numbers of bacteria – the types that are normally found in the large intestine – are present in the small intestine.

It can be a cause of many health problems, including diarrhea, abdominal pain, and protein/fat malabsorption.

Food Sensitivity Testing

A food sensitivity or a food intolerance is caused by an inability to digest a food and occurs in the digestive tract and not the bloodstream, like a food allergy. Symptoms are “delayed onset”, where symptoms do not appear for hours or even days. Food sensitivities are not fixed, and can come and go during the course of one’s life.

Strangely, people often crave foods to which they are sensitive to. Some researchers suggest that our bodies can become addicted to the chemical messengers, such as histamine or cortisol, which are secreted by immune cells in response to allergens in the body. The body may experience a soothing response from the presence of the chemical messengers, increasing the desire to eat more of that food.

Note that food sensitivities and allergies can change every year. Just because you’re diagnosed with a food sensitivity or allergy one year does not mean it will hold true for the rest of your life. This is why we encourage our patients to get tested at least once a year.

Nutritional Evaluation

NutrEval

The NutrEval FMV® is both a blood and urine test that evaluates over 125 biomarkers and assesses the body's functional need for 40 antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, digestive support, and other select nutrients. Personalized recommendations for nutrients are determined by using an algorithm based on the patient's test findings.

The NutrEval report offers:

  • Nutrient recommendations for: key vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and digestive support
  • Functional pillars with a built-in scoring system to: guide therapy around needs for methylation support, toxic exposures, mitochondrial dysfunction, fatty acid imbalances, and oxidative stress
  • Interpretation-At-A-Glance: pages for patient education
  • Dynamic biochemical pathway charts: for clearer understanding

Cardiovascular Health

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Panel

The Comprehensive Cardiovascular Panel identifies risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Specifically, these tests measure levels of Lipids, LipoProteins, Inflammation, Myocardial Stress, fatty acids, uric acid, minerals, and risk factors for CVD. Over time, nutritional deficiencies can result in a variety of chronic health conditions.

According to the American Heart Association, more than 1 in 3 adults has some form of cardiovascular disease. The Comprehensive Cardio Panel identifies key risk factors for CVD, that can be modified by improving nutrition, and measures:
  • Fatty Acid Imbalances: which can lead to chronic inflammation, a probable cause of CVD.
  • High Fibrinogen: which can make the blood more sticky, increasing risk of clots.
  • Homocysteine: an important risk factor for not only CVD, but stroke and dementia as well.
  • Coenzyme Q10: a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance in every human cell that impacts energy production and acts as an antioxidant.
  • Fasting Insulin: an indicator of Insulin resistance in every human cell that impacts energy production and acts as an antioxidant.
  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP): a marker of CVD inflammation.
This panel is often paired with the NutrEval to get an even more adequate picture of your whole health.

Toxins

Heavy Metals

There are different ways to test for Heavy Metals, either through Blood, Urine, or Hair. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. This is why it's important to work with someone that knows which test to order for your specific needs.

Quicksilver Heavy Metals Test
Unfortunately Western Medicine won't run these tests. Simply because they have no solution to heavy metal toxicity, therefor they won't test for it.

Depending on which metals show positive to you, you will be put on a specific protocol to detox those elements.

Mycotoxin (Mold) Test

Similar to Heavy Metal testing, Mycotoxin testing can be done through blood or urine. Again each have their specific advantages.

Blood will indicate that mycotoxins are affecting you right and currently pose a risk to your cells.

Urine will indicate how well you are detoxing mycotoxins to remove them from your body.
Mycotoxin Mold Test
Mold is a tough one and you need to be guided through a systematic protocol in order to eliminate mold from sinus cavities, lungs, and biofilms. Working with a knowledgeable practitioner is paramount to your recovery!

Environmental Toxin Test

Total Toxic Burden Test

This test is a combination of the previous 3. Its looking for Mold, Heavy Metals, and Environmental Toxins. This is a great test to see your total toxic accumulation throughout the years.

DNA

Self Decode DNA

DNA is a great test to do. The best part is you only ever have to do it once in your life. Your DNA will show us all of your genetic switches of possibilities. We can get insights on:
  • Diet: Foods you may be sensitive to and need to avoid
  • Nutrients: Will show us which vitamins and mineral you may require more of.
  • Actionable Health Scores: Will show us which genetic switches you may have for different types of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, depression, etc..
  • Detox: We can see how well your able to detox via your MTHFR genes.
  • Exercise: Will give suggestions to what your strengths and weaknesses may be in order to train them.
  • Allergies and Sensitivities: Can tell us what you may be sensitive to like environmental toxins or dairy.
  • And Much More!

Cell Health and Inflammation

Meta-Oxy test

Is one of the most important tests you can do for your health. Systemic Formula’s Meta-Oxy test measures how much cell membrane damage is occurring in your body. With trillions of cells in your body, this outer protective shell that holds the cell together is critical. It’s literally where all communication takes place. It is this membrane that is actually the “brain” of the cell.

Signals from our nervous system, endocrine system, and other cells in the body attach to this membrane and tell the cells what to do. Without a healthy functioning membrane, disease and sickness are sure to be not far off. The health of the cell membranes in your body is absolutely critical!

So what causes dysfunction of these membranes?
Free Radicals. Many people have heard of free radicals. It’s why we need to be taking antioxidants in the form of supplements, and choosing foods that are rich in them. Environmental chemicals in our food, water, and air cause free radicals. As do anything that gets on our skin such as household cleaning products, cosmetics, etc. The cells themselves even produce free radicals when they run their energy-producing processes.

We live and die at this cellular membrane because when oxidized by free radicals, these life-giving cell membranes are damaged and fail to perform properly. This results in:
  • Poor cell signaling of the immune system
  • Increased metabolic toxicity
  • Mitochondrial diseases
  • Reduced cellular energy (can’t produce ATP)
  • Damaged DNA
  • Poor tissue function
  • Unresponsive hormones (thyroxin, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, leptin, etc)
  • Increase risk of abnormal cells
  • Increased risk of cardiovascular problems
This cellular damage is known as inflammation. And it is this inflammation that is called the “silent killer”, and is associated with heart and cardiovascular disease, cancer, and the other disorders listed above.

Frequently asked questions...
What Happens On The Discovery Call?
Very simple. Dr. Mannie will ask you some questions, do a thorough health history, and determine if you're a case he can accept. If he thinks he can help he'll give you that option. If he doesn't think he can help, he'll work to find somebody who can.
Are Your Programs Safe?
ABSOLUTELY! Our protocols are extremely safe and there is nothing like it. There are very few doctors that will do objective functional testing and work towards finding the ROOT CAUSE of the health challenge. Most simply give a med / chemical cover up.
Does Insurance Pay For Functional Medicine?
Unfortunately no insurance company pays for functional medicine. However, if you're MOTIVATED we'll work with you. Our protocols are very affordable and keep in mind that we've never turned anybody away because of finances.
Where Is Your Clinic Located?
We are 100% virtual. The beautiful thing about functional medicine and our functional approach is that it can be done from ANYWHERE! After our initial discovery call (to determine if our protocol makes sense for you) we'll provide you with test kits so TOGETHER we can customize a safe, natural, & highly effective protocol based on YOUR individual needs.
Will I Have To Swallow A Lot Of Pills?
We will provide recommendations based on where you're nutrient deficient / depleted. Again, this is based on the testing that is performed. We'll give you supplement recommendations as well as give you food recommendations to eat more of that are abundant in the nutrients where you're depleted.
Do You Provide Support / Accountability?
YES! Even though our functional protocols are done virtually, we provide 24/7 email support. If you have a question / obstacle to work through we'll provide you the support & guidance you need.
